Dating Diary[edit]
The message from my aunts to bring my boyfriend back home for New Year's caught me completely off-guard. I had lied about it to get out of stupid blind dates they tried to fix me up with. Minor, though, gave me the idea of getting someone to pass off as my boyfriend and I immediately thought of Gavin.
So, a Gavin dressed in suit and with gifts in hands showed up at their door on New Year's Day. He actually handled my relatives' interrogation quite well. I was very appreciative, but he held my hand and told me he cared about making a good impression on them.
At dinner, they asked Gavin about his family and he admitted that he hasn't seen them in years. An awkward pause followed and I reflexively defended him. Later I saw him tired and weary in private. I told him he could lean on me. He took my hand and kissed it.
Later still, Gavin confessed that he had not feel like part of a family for too long, and that he would stay with me and care for me for the rest of his life. I learned on our way home that Minor taught him to say all that, but he embraced me and told me that was truly how he felt.
