Several homicides happened in the city recently, and I intended to interview the criminals in prison.
I'd never done a crime interview. I felt a bit uneasy so I asked Gavin to go with me.
At the prison gate, I opened my notebook to review my ideas for the interview.
Although I was well-prepared, I felt extremely nervous.
Gavin waved and walked over to me.
MC: Good morning, Gavin.
Gavin: Let's go.
MC: Umm... Could you give me five more minutes?
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. But the movie Silence of the Lambs kept flashing in my mind.
What do I do if I meet someone like Hannibal? But that was just a movie. Nothing like that happens in real life.
Gavin sensed my uneasiness.
Gavin: Nervous?
MC: Y-- yeah...
Gavin put his hands on his hips and looked at me with my helpless expression.
Suddenly, he took me by the hand and walked me to the prison.
Gavin: You'll be safe with me by your side.
I just followed him. The warmth of his palm eased my nerves.
